Volunteering for Lincoln Park Community Shelter
WHEN:
Saturday, May 31, 2008; 6pm-8:30pm
WHERE:
600 West Fullerton Pkwy, Chicago, IL
60614
WHAT:
Urban Volunteers
will prepare and serve a meal to approximately 35 of the shelter’s
guests. One of the great things about this project is that you actually
get to see the people you are helping face to face. When we were there
in October, the residents said it was the best meal they had ever had.
We had a lot of fun making the food, too. If there is a dish you would
like to prepare, please let us know ahead of time. There are only ten
spots available for this project.
ABOUT:
The Lincoln Park Community Shelter was born out of concern for the
homeless population. Through the joint efforts of the Lincoln Park
Presbyterian Church, St. Clement Catholic Church, and St. Paul’s
United Church of Christ the LPCS opened its doors in 1985. However,
the LPCS is not religiously affiliated and is privately funded. Not
only does the LPCS provide food, but it also provides shelter and
support services. For more info, visit
Lincoln Park
Community Shelter.
